Default Blaster 2 coil with Pertronix Ignitor?

I have a 67 Ford Fairlane with a 390. It's mainly a street cruiser with a 3x2 carb setup and a very slight upgraded cam (slight lope idle).

The distributor is stock with a Pertronix Ignitor electronic conversion inside. It was installed be a previous owner. Age is unknown. The car also had a matching Pertronix coil. Recently had a slight part throttle misfire and found the coil was leaking a little oil around the terminals. I replaced the coil with a Blaster 2 #8202 coil.

Do I need to use a ballast resistor with this coil/ignition combo?

It did not have a ballast resistor with the old coil. I did look it the Pertronix coils are available with either 1.5 or 3.0 Ohms Primary resistance (not sure which one I had) vs the MSD coil's .7 ohms.

BTW, the part throttle misfire is still there despite new coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

no resistor needed.... is the coil mounted up and down...or laying on its side?

The coil is laying on it's side. Does it matter?
